Arrested Keion Rowell Of Boston, Charged After Ramming Vehicle into State Police cruiser

Keion Rowell  – Boston resident Keion Rowell, 44, was arrested on Tuesday morning in Randolph, following a harrowing few days of intense manhunt operations. Rowell’s arrest came just days after he allegedly collided with a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and fled the scene, setting off a series of events that led to multiple charges, including trafficking in cocaine, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury.

The incident began on Friday evening, when State Police attempted to stop Rowell’s vehicle in Boston. Law enforcement officers had activated a Star Chase tracking device on the vehicle after it failed to yield to their attempts to pull it over. The device, used to assist police in pursuing suspects who attempt to flee, led troopers to the vehicle located on Thwing Street near the Jackson Square MBTA station in Jamaica Plain.

As law enforcement approached the vehicle, Rowell’s actions quickly escalated. According to authorities, he rammed the police cruiser multiple times before fleeing on foot, prompting a swift and dangerous pursuit. During the incident, the trooper who had approached the vehicle was injured and subsequently transported to a nearby Boston hospital for medical evaluation. Thankfully, the officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Law enforcement was able to identify Rowell as the suspect, partly due to the discovery of narcotic evidence in the vicinity of the crash site, which indicated that he may have been involved in illegal drug trafficking. The investigation further revealed that Rowell was also operating the vehicle with a suspended license at the time of the collision.

The days following the incident saw a coordinated effort between local, state, and federal agencies to track down Rowell. Law enforcement officers utilized various resources in their search, including tactical teams and canine units, which led them to Randolph, where Rowell was eventually apprehended without further incident.

Tim McGuirk, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police, confirmed that Rowell is facing multiple charges related to the collision and his subsequent actions. “This was a complex situation with multiple dangerous elements,” McGuirk stated. “Rowell not only endangered the lives of our officers but also of others in the community during the course of the incident.”

The charges against Rowell are extensive. He is accused of trafficking in cocaine, which was discovered near the crash site, as well as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon due to the ramming of the police cruiser. Additionally, he faces charges for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, which could result in significant penalties, and for leaving the scene of an accident, which is a serious offense given the injuries sustained by the officer.

Following his arrest, Rowell was taken into custody and held without bail, with an upcoming court date set for later this week. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and they are continuing to assess the full scope of the incident, including any other potential criminal activities that may have been involved.

The arrest has brought a sense of relief to the community and law enforcement officials, as the search for Rowell had been a significant concern. Local residents have expressed both shock and gratitude for the officers involved in the arrest. “It’s a relief to know that he’s off the streets,” said one Boston resident. “The police did an excellent job, and we’re thankful that the officer who was injured is okay.”

As Rowell faces these charges, the Massachusetts State Police are also urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity, as the investigation into his activities continues. This case highlights not only the dangers posed by individuals who engage in reckless behavior but also the risks faced by law enforcement officers in their line of duty. The officers who were involved in this pursuit are being commended for their professionalism and quick response in handling such a dangerous situation.

Keion Rowell’s arrest marks the end of a tense manhunt, but it also serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to keep communities safe from individuals who endanger others through reckless actions. Authorities are committed to bringing justice to the victims of this incident, and the case will continue to unfold in the coming weeks.
